In my family, we ate doughnuts (faschnauts). In honor of this tradition, where are the best doughnuts in the area? Preference for Virginia, but what the heck..
On the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday some of us eat faschnauts which are like donuts. The traditional dish for New Year's Day is pork and saurkraut.
